"Kinran" is a beautiful and luxurious traditional woven cloth which patterns are woven with pieces of gold leaf, gold thread, etc. to the ground tissue such as "Shamon" (twill), "Kohaku" (taffeta), "Shusu" (satin), and "Sha" (silk gauze).
It is flourishingly woven in Nishijin, Kyoto and is still popular today as "Kesa" (vestment of the Japanese Buddhist monk), "Obi" (Kimono belt) and Hina doll's costume.
It is thin and compact without gusset, with a convenient front pocket, and is easy to put into a bag or pocket.
